Asim Munir & Egyptian FM Agree to Boost Defence Cooperation
Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty, met Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in Rawalpindi on Monday to discuss the future of Pakistan-Egypt defence cooperation.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), both sides reviewed the existing bilateral relationship with a special focus on military collaboration and regional peace.
Pakistan and Egypt Strengthen Defence Cooperation
The two leaders had in-depth conversations about military-to-military contacts, training opportunities, intelligence coordination, defense and security cooperation, and cooperative measures to maintain regional stability. The discussions reiterated the shared resolve to strengthen long-standing defense ties and improve collaboration in key areas.
Warm regards from Egypt’s leadership were extended by the Egyptian Foreign Minister, who also stated a strong desire to increase cooperation with Pakistan in all spheres. Both sides underlined the necessity of ongoing high-level discussions in order to address new regional issues and changing security conditions.
Recent High-Level Engagement with Iran
Earlier this month, Ali Ardeshir Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, also met Field Marshal Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ). That meeting revolved around bilateral relations, cross-border security, and efforts to strengthen cooperation between Pakistan and Iran.
The COAS reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and underscored the importance of closer coordination with neighboring countries to combat terrorism. He highlighted the growing relevance of strategic partnerships amid shifting geopolitical trends.
Ali Larijani acknowledged Pakistan’s crucial role in regional stability and expressed Iran’s intent to enhance dialogue and cooperation to address shared challenges and promote long-term peace.
