Winter Vacation Starting In Punjab From 22nd December 2025

The Punjab government has officially announced the winter holidays for all public and private schools across the province. The decision aims to protect students from the harsh cold weather and rising seasonal illnesses, ensuring a safe and healthy break during peak winter months.

Winter Holidays in Punjab Schools – Final Dates Confirmed

According to the latest update shared by Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, all schools in the province will remain closed from:

  • December 22, 2025 (Monday)
  • January 10, 2026 (Saturday)

Classes will resume from January 11, 2026.

Officials stated that the winter break will not only help safeguard children from respiratory infections and severe temperature drops but also provide students with enough time to re-energize and prepare for the upcoming academic term.

Districts Allowed Flexibility in Timings

The Punjab School Education Department has permitted District CEOs to adjust school timings by up to 15 minutes, depending on local weather conditions. This flexibility was introduced to ensure the safety of students, especially during early hours when smog levels peak and visibility drops significantly.

Officials confirmed that these precautionary measures were necessary, as smog poses severe health risks, particularly for young children. The schedule will stay in place until weather and air quality conditions show considerable improvement.

Why Were These Measures Taken?

Authorities highlighted the following key reasons behind the revised timings and holiday schedule:

  • Severe winter temperatures across Punjab
  • Increased smog and poor air quality
  • Preventive steps to reduce illness among students
  • Ensuring safe school travel during morning hours

The government aims to maintain a balance between academic continuity and student health, taking proactive steps before conditions worsen.

Conclusion

The Punjab government’s updated winter vacation schedule and revised school timings reflect a strong focus on student safety amid falling temperatures and rising smog. With schools set to remain closed from December 22, 2025, to January 10, 2026, parents are advised to follow official notifications and keep children indoors during early foggy hours.

These timely precautions are expected to reduce health risks and ensure a smooth transition into the next academic session once schools reopen.
