Punjab Medical & Dental Colleges Announce MBBS Quota Admissions [Eligibility, Date & More]

The Punjab government has officially announced that applications for MBBS and BDS quota seats in the province’s medical and dental colleges will open from December 1, 2025. 

This year, the government has emphasized merit-based selection and streamlined procedures to ensure fair access to both public and reserved quota seats. 

The online application system will allow candidates to easily complete their forms, upload necessary documents, and track their application status in real time, marking a significant improvement over the traditional manual submission process.

Historic Change: Other Provinces Can Apply Directly for Punjab MBBS/BDS Quota Seats

This year, candidates from other provinces will be able to apply directly for these quota seats, which is a significant move for the province. The new admission policy, which was approved by the provincial cabinet, states that direct applications would be used instead of nominations.

Breakdown of reserved seats:

• Islamabad: four BDS seats and 26 MBBS seats.
• Azad Jammu & Kashmir has three BDS seats and thirty-six MBBS places.
• There are five BDS seats and fifty-five MBBS seats in Gilgit-Baltistan.
• 20 MBBS seats in Balochistan (Goodwill Category).
• Former FATA: 6 BDS seats and 21 MBBS seats.
• Balochistan (HEC Scholarship Category): 10 BDS seats and 28 MBBS seats.
• There were 28 MBBS seats and 10 BDS seats in the former FATA (HEC Scholarship Category).

Candidates must be residents of the applicable province, region, or area, depending on the seat distribution, in order to apply for quota seats in Punjab’s medical and dental colleges.

Usually, the following are the minimum qualifications for eligibility:

• Qualifications for Education: Completion of Intermediate (F.Sc. Pre-Medical) or its equivalent with the necessary grades.
• Merit Threshold: Applicants must receive the minimum scores required by the PMDC in Intermediate exams.
• Entrance Test: To be eligible for a quota, applicants must take the UHS Medical & Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) and fulfill the requirements.
• Age Restrictions: Candidates must adhere to the age restrictions specified in the province admissions policy.

Candidates from other provinces can now immediately apply for quota seats this year according to the new regulation.
