This initiative aligns directly with the Prime Minister’s and State Bank of Pakistan’s (SBP) broader vision of promoting a cashless, transparent, and modern financial system.
Pakistan’s First Cashless Bazaar Launched
CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Mr. Muhammad Ali Randhawa, formally inaugurated the Cashless Bazaar together with senior officials from Zindigi, SBP, CDA, and MCI.
Through this initiative, both buyers and shopkeepers can now make instant digital payments using any banking app by scanning Raast-powered Zindigi QR codes. The project aims to boost financial inclusion, support small merchants, and speed up Pakistan’s shift toward a digital payments ecosystem.
H-9 Sunday Market – A Major Commercial Hub
Located near Peshawar Mor, the H-9 Sunday Market is one of Islamabad’s busiest marketplaces, attracting thousands of visitors weekly. With its wide variety of products, from fruits and vegetables to clothing, electronics, and household items, the market serves as a key commercial spot for the city.
Introducing a cashless system in such a high-traffic area is expected to significantly increase digital transaction adoption.
CDA Chairman: Islamabad Leading the Digital Shift
While speaking at the launch, CDA Chairman Ali Randhawa highlighted that the Cashless Bazaar reflects the Prime Minister’s commitment to a modern, cashless Pakistan.
He added that deploying Raast QR codes across the city is making Islamabad a fully digital, financially inclusive, and future-ready capital, setting an example for other cities to follow.
Zindigi’s Role in Digital Payments Expansion
Zindigi’s Chief Officer, Noman Azhar, emphasized the importance of public–private partnerships in transforming Pakistan’s payment landscape.
He stated that Zindigi aims to build a robust digital ecosystem where citizens can enjoy safe, seamless, and convenient cashless transactions, reshaping how people interact with financial services.
Participation of Key Officials
The launch event was attended by senior government representatives, including officials from the State Bank of Pakistan, CDA, MCI, and Islamabad administration. Their presence reflects strong institutional support for expanding digital payment systems nationwide.
Conclusion
The inauguration of Pakistan’s first Cashless Bazaar marks a significant milestone in the journey toward a fully digital economy. With Islamabad taking the lead, this initiative not only supports the Prime Minister’s Cashless Pakistan vision but also encourages citizens and merchants to adopt easier, safer, and faster digital payments. As similar projects expand across the country, Pakistan moves closer to becoming a modern, technologically empowered economy.
