Latest Update: Punjab Initiates “Himmat Card” For Special Children!

A new “Himmat Card” program has been introduced by the Punjab government to offer financial help, medical services, educational support, and special discounts to children with disabilities throughout the state. 

She declared that all of the province’s special education centers would be rebuilt, that each district would have a “Centre of Excellence for Special Students,” and that transportation would be provided to each special education center.

Punjab launched Himmat Card For Special Child 

The “Himmat Card” has been introduced, according to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. By providing unique welfare benefits through an officially issued identity card, this innovative program seeks to alleviate the difficulties faced by exceptional children and their families. 

The Himmat Card will make it simpler for Punjabi children with disabilities to access government services, subsidies, and supportive programs.

Center Of Excellence For Special Children 

Additionally, a significant development plan for enhancing facilities for children with impairments has been unveiled by the Punjab government. 

Every district will also have a “Centre of Excellence for Special Students,” which will be furnished with cutting-edge educational resources, counseling services, and specialist personnel to meet the special requirements of children with disabilities. 

The government will also provide specialized transportation services to all Special Education Centers in order to further promote accessibility. This will facilitate children’ safe transportation to and from school without placing a financial strain on their families.

Punjab School Meal Program: Progress Overview

Speaking at the launch of the “School Meal Program” for Special Education students and recently finished Centers of Excellence, Punjab’s chief minister said that the government was investing in people with disabilities so they could become contributing members of society rather than just helping them.

According to the Chief Minister of Punjab, 45,000 youngsters in 313 institutions receive wholesome food every day as part of the “School Meal Program.” She went on to say that in order to verify the program’s quality, she personally sampled the milk and biscuits.

Himmat Card Update: 40,000 Screened, 30,000 Treated in Punjab

According to Maryam Nawaz, the purpose of the recently introduced “Himmat card” is to reassure parents that the government supports them. Hundreds of children have been able to regain their hearing as a result of 40,000 health screenings and 30,000 treatments. Wheelchairs and other assistive technology are also being given out.

Maryam Nawaz said that the establishment of Punjab’s first government-run school for autistic children was a blessing and that unique heroes and instructors should be held in the highest regard.

Sania Ashiq, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Special Education, and her team have been commended by Chief Minister Punjab for expediting the implementation of special education reforms. She claimed that after taking the oath, she had promised to set up special education facilities throughout Punjab; in just 18 months, Sania Ashiq had mostly kept her word.

Smart Classrooms, CCTV Buses & Modern Facilities

Thousands of youngsters were already receiving education at Centers of Excellence in Layyah, Bhakkar, and other areas of north, central, and south Punjab, according to Maryam Nawaz, who called the Center of Excellence in Lahore a state-of-the-art and historic undertaking.

In order to guarantee safety and stop harassment, the government has implemented CCTV monitoring in classrooms and school buses; 60 vehicles are currently outfitted with surveillance.

She added that school buildings, classrooms, and restrooms were being renovated in accordance with students’ needs, calling it a marvel to watch kids use smart boards in smart classrooms and read with Braille books.

Therapy Labs, IT Training & Wheelchair-Friendly E-Buses

According to Maryam Nawaz, Centers of Excellence will also provide speech therapy, physiotherapy, specialized labs, and audio-video rooms. Additionally, youngsters will receive IT training to improve their employment prospects. Eight special students who received training at these centers were hired by PITB, which pleased the chief minister.

New electric buses have wheelchair-accessible spaces and automated stairs for people with special needs. After receiving thousands of applications for admission, she announced that the nation’s first government-run school of autism will shortly open.
