In 1985, he obtained a license to practice law in subordinate courts. In 1987, he joined the Lahore High Court as an Advocate, and in 2001, he was appointed an Advocate of the Supreme Court.

Excellence has characterized Justice Khan’s judicial career. After a distinguished stint at the Lahore High Court from 2011 to 2019, where he gained recognition for his proficiency in civil law, notably in property, inheritance, and pre-emption matters, he joined the Supreme Court of Pakistan in October 2019.
Under his father’s tutelage, he began his legal career and was eventually admitted as a Supreme Court advocate in 2001. In addition to his work as a judge, Justice Amin has been a dedicated educator, contributing to the governance of multiple colleges, including UET Lahore, and working as a lecturer and examiner at University Law College, Multan.
Most recently, on November 13, 2025, after the 27th Constitutional Amendment was passed, the President named him as the first Chief Justice of the newly formed Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan (FCC).
