By 16th April the Punjab Government has promised to unveil one of the best Kisan Packages for all the Eligible Wheat farmers so that they can get a relief on their inputs and can benefit from as large a sum of output as possible. According to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the government will take action to prevent farmers from losing money or flour prices from rising.

15bn Kisan Package For Wheat Farmers
In response to reports of declining wheat prices during harvest, the Punjab government announced a Rs15 billion package for farmers on Wednesday. Growers staged rallies throughout the province.
Through the Kisan Card, 550,000 wheat producers would receive direct cash assistance under the Wheat Support Fund.
Exemption For Wheat Farmers
Additionally, the government said that wheat producers would not be required to pay irrigation or fixed taxes this year. In order to shield wheat from the effects of climate change and farmers from market pressure, the package includes a four-month free storage Electronic Warehouse Receipt (EWR) facility.
The province’s adoption of the EWR system was determined by the government. Under this arrangement, farmers who store wheat will receive an electronic receipt. This receipt can be presented to the bank within 24 hours in order to receive a loan up to 70% of the entire cost (of the stored wheat).
Purchase Policy: Rs100bn Loan Support & Storage Mandate
Additionally, it agreed to pay a markup on loans of up to Rs100 billion to flour mills and green license holders for the purchase of wheat that were received from the Bank of Punjab. For flour mills and green license holders to buy wheat immediately and legally, the cabinet’s consent will be requested. It is now required to store up to 25% of the total storage capacity as wheat.
Punjab decided to contact the federal government for the export of wheat and wheat products. The Bank of Punjab will provide financing to the private sector for the renovation and construction of warehouses for wheat storage.
Punjab Govt To Pay Markup Of 15Bn
The Punjab government would give the wheat growers storage facilities in exchange for a markup of Rs5 billion. Transportation of wheat and flour across district and provincial borders is no longer prohibited.
Maryam Nawaz, the chief minister, declared her determination to prevent farmers from suffering any losses. Due to grain imports during the Mohsin Naqvi-led caretaker government, the Punjab government did not purchase wheat last year. The price of wheat dropped significantly as a result. Maryam Nawaz adds that Punjab has achieved its wheat cultivation goals because to the farmers’ hard work. She promises that both farmers and the average person would be protected by the government.
